We’re looking for a talented and motivated Backend Engineer with proven experience in Go (Golang) to join our growing development team in Heraklion, Crete. You’ll play a key role in designing and building scalable backend services that power our platform. About the job
As a Backend Engineer of Phaistos, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps, and product managers, to deliver high-performance, secure, and maintainable APIs and services. You’ll contribute to both the architecture and the implementation of critical backend components.

Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and test new technologies and services using Go (Golang)
- Develop and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs
- Work with MySQL databases, ensuring performance and data integrity
- Collaborate using Git workflows and participate in code reviews
- Containerize services with Docker and work within CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure the reliability and scalability of backend systems
- Monitor and debug performance issues across environments
- Contribute to internal documentation and tooling
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional backend development experience in Go (Golang) in production
- Familiarity with Docker, Git, REST, GraphQL, and MySQL
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend architecture
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and team collaboration skills
Will be considered a plus
- Experience in the digital advertising ecosystem
- Familiarity with Clickhouse
- Familiarity with RabbitMQ
- Knowledge of microservices architecture
- Exposure to high-load, real-time systems
