JOB ROLE PURPOSE: The primary function of a Respiratory Therapist is to assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. They play a crucial role in managing respiratory therapies, conducting diagnostic tests, and ensuring patients receive optimal respiratory support and care.

8. JOB ROLE DESCRIPTION:

  • Hospital/Acute Care Center: Provide respiratory care to inpatients, manage ventilators, administer oxygen therapy, and participate in trauma response.
  • Rehabilitation Center: Develop and implement weaning plans from mechanical ventilation, perform sputum mobilization techniques, and provide patient education on respiratory health.
  • Community Clinic: Administer respiratory therapies, perform diagnostic tests, and provide outpatient care and follow-up.
  • Care Home: Provide ongoing respiratory care and support for residents with chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Military/Armed Forces Organization: Offer respiratory support to veterans and active military personnel, participate in medical evacuations and trauma care.
