Executive Director – Software/Robotics Job Description
This position will be located in the Naperville, IL office. Rex Engineering Group is an engineering and construction company with continued growth through acquisition and internal progression.
Are you interested in building a new division and helping senior business and technical leaders achieve extensive business value while overseeing all software and robotic product development, sales and manufacturing. You will be working with our account leaders, professional services teams, and sales teams to support the launch of new software and robotic hardware tech products. This position will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and designing "go-to-market" plans to deliver a measurable revenue for the company. You will need to have an executive presence, strong customer focus, and willingness to oversee a distributed team that is working from home and from several offices and/or light manufacturing locations including development of new locations to meet current and future customer needs.
As the Executive Director of this new division you will have the opportunity to drive customer engagements around new migrations to shape, deliver and launch software and physical tech products in business to business relationships.
Role & Responsibilities
- Engage with customer executives to inspire, define and execute on business strategies demonstrating thought-leadership and a ‘can do’ approach to product and software migrations, working backwards from customer needs.
- Oversee all technology product development, sales and manufacturing
- Work backwards from helping customers achieve business outcomes. Creating, articulating, and positioning an innovative and compelling value proposition so that customer executives clearly realize the benefits and transformation value of new product line of either software or robotic hardware.
- Identify and develop opportunities to build compelling proposals to help customers achieve business value from new software platforms.
- Provide and present the path forward for customers to build plans and business cases, and ensure clarity on product value proposition(s) for the customer.
- Collaborate with the sales, technical, and industry teams to drive the development of go-to-market approaches and opportunities that create consistent outcomes and addresses requests from customers through these engagements.
- Build and manage reporting mechanisms to capture results and improvement opportunities for business unit.
- Conduct customer briefings, and present at customer events.
- Work with customers to describe the business opportunity from migrating, and the methodologies that have been developed to reduce risk and help the customer achieve their outcomes.
- Work with cross functional teams within the organization. Typically, cross-functional collaboration includes business development teams, product solutions architecture, marketing, providing professional services, compliance, and other related teams.
- Will oversee department personnel that maybe working from home, from different office locations or manufacturing sites.
Basic Qualifications - 10 years of relevant work experience in technology enabled consultative, delivery, solutions, or business development roles focused on technology.
- 10 years of experience in technologies – deep understanding of machine vision and product development
- 5 years of experience in customer facing roles leading large scale transformation programs or extensive customer engagements.
- 3 years of experience developing image capture software, remote image capture systems or content management systems.
- 3 years of experience working with enterprise customers on large scale transformation projects.
- Degree in technical field such as Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Software Development or similar discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience or working knowledge of software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking technologies.
- Must have successfully launched a software or hardware tech product – preferably with subscription billing.
- Ability to engage and help customers crystallize business benefits of migrations and new software technologies.
- Must have great management capabilities including organization, communication, scheduling, logical process, and delegation.
- Enjoys the challenge of finding new customers & competing for business.
- Past experience in the construction industry is a plus
