San Education Academy (SEA) is currently recruiting teachers from all around the world. We are looking for teachers with expertise in a wide range of subjects such as English as a second language science, math, art, and history. In fact, we are open to having classes about many other subjects. Look at the bottom of this post to see a better list of classes we'd like to open.
We are an online school based out of Taiwan. Our students are mostly Taiwanese and Chinese with a few other countries represented.
We use the Zoho suite for administration, and Zoom to host the classes. We also use Slack to communicate.
Pay starts at $22.50 USD per hour.
All classes are conducted in English. We are open to people from all countries. We want professional teachers.
Our teachers are expected to prepare their own curriculum. We do not require our teachers to do tests, or homework. If you want to, you can choose to do this.
Each class is one hour. Times of classes will vary this upcoming semester, but most classes fall between 4:00pm – 10:00pm (GMT +8 Taiwan local time). Teachers can choose their availability and see if students are willing to take the class. We are in the middle of our spring semester and looking to fill some classes as student demand is increasing.
Essentially we would like teachers to be able to work independently, but still maintain a relationship with the other staff. We do our best to listen to the feedback from students, teachers and parents, and we make adjustments accordingly. Our students range from age 8 - 18+. More details about classes can be shared during the interview.
We are a small school right now, but growing each semester. That is why we need to recruit more teachers.
What we are looking for:
- Professional teachers who can host class online
- People who can connect with students, and keep them engaged
- Teachers with a unique style, and in depth knowledge in a given subject
What we can offer you:
- Pay starting at $22.50 USD per 45 minute class
- Business, and teaching support
- A great avenue to teach a subject you like in the comfort of your home
- Opportunities to grow with a small business in the future
- Flexible time off. Finding subs is not too difficult if we have enough notice beforehand
We will be looking to hire teachers to start in July, but the application process has started.
How to apply:
Please send your resume/CV to chris@seaup.org
Due to the volume I will not be responding to comments or private messages. In your e-mail, please also include a little bit about yourself such as where you are from, what subjects you would like to teach, and your preferred teaching style. I'm forced to ignore all e-mails that don't include this information.
Optional: - Create a Youtube video introducing yourself as you would for potential students.
- Create a lesson plan you might use in your first few classes
More than anything we are looking for professional teachers. We want students to be able to depend on you to show up on time, and teach an excellent class. We understand that teaching online is vastly different from the classroom, and that experience does not always translate to the internet. This is a part-time job. Our teachers work anywhere from 2 – 15 hours per week. Because our semester is already underway, your hours will be on the lower end.
Our fall semester is from September to January. We expect teachers to be able to teach between those months once you agree to take on a class.
Our class structure might be different from what you are used to. We have a solid foundation of students who have been with us for some time. We are also recruiting more and more students each day. Teachers will be asked to advertise themselves, and their class on our website. You will just need to prepare a small video introduction about who you are, and what you can offer students. Students will choose between the teachers/subjects and decide which classes they would like to take. Because of this, we cannot guarantee hours. However, we will do our best to encourage students to sign up for your classes.
Personally speaking I have been a teacher with SEA for a little over a year now, and it is one of the most enjoyable teaching jobs I've ever had. It is very relaxing, and the students are eager to learn. If you're tired of teaching in a classroom, you might consider making the change to online. Looking forward to your e-mail! Thanks.
