Space Machines Company (SMC) is an Australian start-up developing in-space logistics and transportation capabilities to cost-effectively deliver small satellites into desired earth and lunar orbits. SMC vehicles will grow its technology in future to maintain, refuel, repair and decommission satellites and other spacecraft.

 

THE ROLE

 

In this Sydney or Adelaide based position, you will work directly with our engineering team and broader company to deliver our spacecraft and vehicle to the launch pad. In addition, you will become the key focal point for each customer who is launching with us on a specific mission.

 

The role will include:

  1. Working across multiple projects and missions, to ensure on-time delivery to our customers and stakeholders
  2. Project Management activities including scheduling, resourcing, cost and risk management
  3. Reporting to senior management on mission and project status
  4. Serving as the primary customer point of contact for each mission and achieving a seamless and positive customer experience
  5. Working with our suppliers to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery to meet our mission timelines
  6. Involvement in future business activities and proposals, to shape projects and missions for future success prior to contract
  7. Support regulatory, licencing and compliance issues for each mission
  8. Other duties as required

PROFILE

 

Ideally, you would have a technical or engineering background in the space or related industry, combined with project management experience. You will need to engage deeply with engineering and technical teams, but also have project management and business acumen to deliver success to our customers and our missions. Our customers will be commercial, civilian government and defence based, and experience or understanding in  these sectors will be beneficial.   

 

Communication and stakeholder management skills will be key to the success of this role, and we expect you to be a pro-active, creative, enthusiastic and results oriented.

 

Some interstate and international travel may be required for the role.
