Space Machines Company (SMC) is an Australian start-up developing in-space logistics and transportation capabilities to cost-effectively insert small satellites into desired low earth orbits (LEO), geostationary earth orbits (GEO) and lunar orbits. SMC vehicles will grow in future to maintain, refuel, repair and decommission satellites and other spacecraft.
THE ROLE
In this Sydney, Australia based position, you will be leading the spacecraft mechanical and thermal design and development which includes the following tasks and responsibilities:
PROFILE:
We expect you to have a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience in the space industry. A strong understanding of designing primary structure with high mechanical and thermal loading is required with the ability to conduct part design and drawing and performing thermal and mechanical analyses. Knowledge of manufacturing, material and or electrical/electronics areas will be an advantage. Experience with NX siemens or others (CAD and FEA), and any FE solvers is preferred.
This position will require strong project organisation and communication skills to maintain a constant interaction between all the integrated subsystems and team members. We expect you to be a pro-active, creative, enthusiastic and a result-oriented engineer, with a broad view on spacecraft design. Fluency in English is also required.
