We are seeking a smart, self-starting and dedicated person to help design, implement, operate, maintain, populate and improve our client's Digital Identity Laboratory sandbox environment. In this role you would be responsible to lay the ground of their core IT service, infrastructure combining and automating virtual machine technology and cloud-native container applications.
A successful candidate will be be fluent in English and French (written and oral), possess a customer-centric attitude, take pride in their work, work under minimal supervision with keen attention to detail and efficiency, and demonstrate problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, implement, deploy and configure the technological environment in which Sandboxes will be hosted at the Laboratory
- Design, build, implement, deploy and configure Sandbox sponsor solutions
- Test implemented designs
- Working with Lab users, build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning of Sandbox Sponsor solutions (what is in the sandbox) and Lab subscriber privates and boxes (organization that can access a private sandbox instance, and make modifications)
- Handle code deployments in all environments
- Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency of Lab operations
- Provide technical guidance and educate team members, coworkers and users on development and operations
- Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve service delivery
- Consult with users and colleagues for feedback during testing stages
- Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards
- Maintain day-to-day management and administration of sandboxes environment
- Manage CI and CD tools with team
- Design, document and update processes related to area of responsibility
- Improve infrastructure development and application development
- Follow best practices, policies and procedures established by the Laboratory
- For the first year, provide 1st level support to our (business) users
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, software engineering, or related field
- Minimum 8 years’ previous experience in development and operations, or related IT, computer, or operations field
- Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
- Knowledgeable of virtualized infrastructure including VMWare, Openshift and other similar technologies
- Knowledge of containerized deployments including docker and kubernetes
- Experience with Linux infrastructures, database, CI/CD tools, scripting language such as Go, Ansible, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agileworkflow methodologies
- Knowledge of supportive services including DNS, VPNs, Firewalls
- Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and opportunities clearly and confidently
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of management and clients
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 30 pounds or more;
- Fluent in English and French; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Solid knowledge of enterprise technical environments is essential
Additional Information
- 6 months contract with an opportunity to convert to full time employment in 2021
- For the duration of the original contract, reports to the CTO and work from home
