This role will coordinate the delivery and development of two innovative digital products, the Integrated Assessment Mapping Portal (IAM) – a holistic needs tool designed for clinicians and patients – and Connect, a unique, online community for young people going through or recovering from cancer.
The post holder will coordinate the implementation across NHS TYA (Teenagers and Young Adult) services, ensuring it is aligned with digital platforms, and deliver user training.
Ensuring that technology is maximising the impact of our services, means every day will be different, so you will be a confident self-starter, able to adapt to technical and practical challenges autonomously. You will have knowledge of the NHS (or similar), and experience in planning, testing, delivery, and evaluating digital products is essential.
Stakeholder engagement encompasses working with external agencies to ensure the needs of clinical stakeholders are met. Building excellent relationships with colleagues and external parties, you will collate business information effectively and identify opportunities to maximise potential. Our community is young, vibrant, and engaging but, require sensitivity and maturity around cancer and diagnosis.

You will ensure that our digital technology is supporting and maximising the impact of our frontline services. Every day will be different, so you will be a confident self-starter, able to adapt to a variety of technological and practical challenges autonomously. The IAM Portal supports assessment and care planning for Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) throughout the UK so you will need to be knowledgeable of the NHS or similar clinical settings. Connect’s community is young, vibrant, and engaging but as a closed environment it requires sensitivity and maturity due to some of the subject matter raised. Both require significant experience in supporting planning, testing, delivering, and evaluating digital products. Working closely with the Digital Project Manager: Services, the post holder will coordinate the implementation of the IAM Portal across NHS TYA services, ensuring it is aligned with Connect and other digital platforms, and delivery of user training (including the preparation of bespoke content) of varying technical competencies. When delivery is complete you will lead on collating relevant data for reporting and evaluation purposes.
Stakeholder engagement is crucial, and you will be working with relevant external agencies to ensure the needs of clinical partners are met. Through building excellent working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, you will collate business critical information effectively and be able to identify opportunities to maximise our digital potential.
This is a central role in the charity’s digital vision and is key in ensuring we support both our frontline service staff and the Teenagers and Young Adults they support.
This role involves hospital visits and providing instruction and training to children on the use of the IAM Portal and Connect as such you will be moderating Teenage Cancer Trust’s social platforms which allows direct unsupervised access to the young people we support. These moderation sessions and visits will not meet the definition of ‘regular’ contact and it is therefore subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Digital Project Manager: Services, Deputy Directory of Service Delivery and Partnerships, Service Operations Coordinators, Operations and Partnerships Managers and other members of the Services Directorate, IT and Database teams, Head of Research and Evidence, Clinical Teams, Chief Nurse.
This list is indicative of the types of stakeholders this role will be in regular contact with and is not meant to be exhaustive: Lead Nurse, Paediatric and TYA Oncologist, Network Manager, Information Governance Lead, IT Manager, Systems Manager, Systems Security Manager, NHS Project Manager, Service Manager; plus a variety of roles within our external agencies.

Evidence of working within a project management framework and delivering successful implementation and/or change

Able to evidence innovative use of Microsoft programmes including extensive knowledge of Excel, Power BI and/or Visio
Understanding the role of information management, information governance and data protection policies in a clinical or similar setting
A good understanding of web or other analytics and meaningful data analysis and evaluation
Understanding the importance and appropriate utilisation of a range of project management frameworks
An understanding of how digital technology can be used to engage internal and external stakeholders
Excellent project management skills coupled with the ability to deliver
Accurate and proficient writing skills
Ability to manage a number of diverse relationships effectively
Highly organised, self-motivated with excellent administrative skills
