On behalf of our retained client (a startup backed by Silicon Valley Venture Capital), we are seeking an experienced start-up Chief Financial Officer who will contribute greatly to the growth of the company by managing the corporate finance function and building out key corporate functions and operations. In this role, you will be based in Houston. Austin is a possibility, with travel to Houston.

Over years of research and field implementation, our client has built a new type of machine learning technology designed specifically to optimize manufacturing-related processes. Their process experts work hand-in-hand with client companies, which are among the world’s largest global operators in the world. Our client company was founded by Google-endorsed machine learning scientists, globally renowned experts in process manufacturing, and serial software entrepreneurs. They are currently generating hundreds of millions of dollars in bottom-line incremental value to its clients and has significant revenue.
This is a great opportunity for you to utilize your proven experience as a CFO, COO, VP of Finance/Operations, or a similar role at a fast-growing tech startup that you helped grow from ~50 to ~250+ employees, with multiple international sites. In this role, you will advise and act as a strategic partner and active participant in shaping strategy of the company, including designing and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures.
In this role, you will:
--Report to the CEO and Co-Founder.
--Build tools and methodologies for strategic and detailed financial and operational planning for 18-24 months ahead.
--Become a sounding board for CEO around company planning, including presentation to Board of Directors.
--Own the company plan.
--Lead current international finance team (internal and subcontractors).
--Responsible for performance measurement and analysis including interpreting data and metrics.
--Own forecasting, budget setting and reporting processes.
--In collaboration with the CEO, recruit a VP/Head of Finance.
--Establish ERP and other software (i.e. NetSuite).
--High-level financial planning and modeling.
--Perform impact analysis and scenario modeling.
--Utilize your corporate Finance/Operations start-up experience to develop the finance, legal, HR, recruiting, administration, and client/professional services organizations and frameworks in the US (Parent HQ) and Israel (R&D) and expand them into various EU countries, Latin America, Middle East, Far-East.
--Design and implement operational foundations and processes that scale across G&A functions and select customer-facing functions.
--Oversee the creation of operations strategies, policies and procedures with an eye for thoroughness, verbiage, legal compliance.
--Develop and manage frameworks, with a focus on accountability and metrics/KPI’s, to ensure individual and team accountability as company scales (i.e. trains moving on time/in unison and well-oiled) to deliver top level operational efficiency and empower people to bring their best to work every day.
--Diagnose root causes of organizational opportunities, develop solutions, and execute course of action to implement organizational improvements.
--Fully align the company operating and cultural principles, spreading them across teams.
--Build teams from scratch, scale existing teams, hand teams off to senior executives.
--Build and lead organizations while conforming to founder spirit, culture, and principles.
--Solve growth bottlenecks throughout the company, increase communication and collaboration within and among teams.

-Proven experience as a CFO, COO, VP of Finance/Operations, or a similar role at a high-growth tech startup (preferably enterprise software) that grew from ~50 to ~250+ employees with multiple international sites.
-You have considerable finance/operations experience with fast-growing enterprise internet/software startups.
-You have considerable experience building and managing teams (HR/Recruiting, Finance, Admin, Legal, Sales) from scratch, both domestically and internationally (we are open to considering people whom we have good reason to believe can help build international operations without actually doing it before).
-You are highly detailed-oriented with a strong sense of finance/operational best practices/frameworks with a focus on accountability, alignment, and measurement of objectives.
-Past experience partnering with senior management and developing a strong working relationship. You have a track record of having chemistry and rapport with a tech start-up CEO.
-You have built and lead *high performing* teams and organizations that have driven significant results for customers while conforming to the company spirit, culture, and principles.
-You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and influence in multiple countries, cultures and time zones.
-You are versatile and adaptable.
-You have a collaborative nature as demonstrated by management experience across multiple departments and disciplines.
-You are a proven strategic thinker and problem solver when it comes to competitive strategy, business models and resource allocation.
-A hands-on "player-coach" who can both manage teams and get into the weeds when necessary.
-Strong analytical skills and a data driven mindset.

-Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of start-up finance/operations management experience with proven success in working across varied business disciplines and at all hierarchical levels to achieve organizational goals.
-Master's degree is a plus.
