Our client is an Austin-based national financial advisory firm with an exclusive focus on mid to late-stage growth companies. They seek to identify, and establish exclusive relationships with, well-managed, privately held technology companies that have developed innovative products or services that disrupt, transform or displace established technologies.
The company has retained our firm to assist in bringing on talented Investor Relations, Business Development Leads to join this world-class organization in a strategic, key role for the company.
· THE ROLE
As mentioned above, our client invests in late-stage technology companies across the consumer and enterprise sectors on behalf of sovereign funds, endowments, mutual funds, hedge funds, and family offices.
Most of their value-add resides in its ability to help companies scale globally, particularly to regions including Asia, Europe and the Middle East. They intentionally operate with discretion, invest passively and in amounts that typically range between $25M - $150M in both primary and secondary transactions.
They are fast paced and a rapidly growing company, and this new and exciting role will be heading the firms focus on expansion and retention. You will be a contributor right from the start, whose contributions, experiences, and insights will have an immediate, meaningful impact on our business.
Currently, the IR team consists of around 10 people. Each Investor relations associate’s role varies from business development to producing marketing materials, data/CRM management, PR, research, etc.
In this role, your specific duties will be:
- Has primary responsibility for developing, maintaining, and enhancing close working and strategic relationships with the investor's community primarily with institutions, family offices, UHNW individuals, investment firms, etc.
- Support the needs of general partners around the world during fundraising activities.
- Make strategic introductions between venture capital funds and limited partners.
- Conduct research and analysis on investors, prospects and consultants, as well as meeting preparation and follow-up.
- Proactively identify and execute ways to improve client service, processes, design, and effectiveness of communications, including how to use new technology to enhance the investor experience.
- Maintaining strong knowledge of industry and asset class trends and gathering market intelligence through investor interactions to identify market opportunities and determine effective development initiatives.
- Participate in investment transaction operations by updating colleagues with investor stage, document status, and cash receipts.
- Respond to investor inquiries on an ad hoc basis.
- Assist with the preparation of project-level business plans for technology development.
- Participate in person in the daily firm wide meeting (9:15am CST)

- 4 years minimum experience working for an alternative investment manager in the Investor Relations or Business Development.
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Must have Series 7 and Series 63 license or must be obtained within 3 months of employment
- Strong entrepreneurial, analytical, quantitative, communication, business writing with top tier client-relations skills
- Must possess and maintain the highest level of dependability, punctuality, and appearance
- Polished and sophisticated verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable graphically designing and formatting PowerPoint presentations
- Foundational understanding of KYC/AML compliance procedures considered a plus
- Eager and motivated to provide an industry best client experience
- Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining cordial and productive relationships inside and outside of an organization.
- Team and firm first thinker with sophisticated maturity to understand broader firm process and strategic direction
- Knowledge of Broker Dealer and/or Registered Investment Advisers is a plus
- Comfortable working under pressure in a demanding environment
- Ability to work independently, producing accurate, detailed materials on tight deadlines
- Experience with Investor CRM, preferably with Backstop Solutions
- US work authorization required
