We are expanding our Cape Town technology team and looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their brand-new, trendy Cape Town office on a hybrid working model.
This is a hands-on cloud engineering role for someone who knows how to build, automate, secure, monitor, and optimise modern AWS infrastructure. You will support high-impact digital products in the sports betting, gambling, and iGaming technology space, where reliability, performance, scalability, and deployment discipline are business-critical.
This is not a maintenance-only DevOps role. The team needs someone who can improve cloud architecture, strengthen deployment pipelines, bring automation into the right places, and help engineering teams move faster without turning production into a science experiment.
Why This Role Stands Out
You will work in a technical environment where infrastructure really matters.
The platforms are cloud-native, integration-heavy, and built for demanding digital use cases. That means your work will directly influence system stability, release speed, production resilience, security posture, and the overall developer experience.
You will be joining a growing Cape Town team with the opportunity to shape DevOps practices, improve tooling, reduce friction, and introduce smarter ways of working across cloud infrastructure and delivery pipelines.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will take ownership of AWS infrastructure, automation, deployment pipelines, and cloud operations across complex technical environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, building, and maintaining AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
- Developing, improving, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable and efficient deployments
- Managing Kubernetes clusters, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support
- Working with Docker and containerised environments across development, testing, and production
- Automating system configuration, infrastructure management, and application deployment processes
- Supporting the security, availability, reliability, and performance of production environments
- Collaborating with engineering teams to improve cloud-native architecture and operational standards
- Monitoring infrastructure health, investigating incidents, and supporting root-cause analysis
- Improving observability, alerting, deployment visibility, and platform resilience
- Researching, evaluating, and introducing tools that improve reliability, scalability, automation, and delivery speed
- Helping teams reduce manual effort, remove bottlenecks, and build better engineering workflows
What You’ll Bring
You should be a practical, technically strong DevOps Engineer who understands both the power and the danger of automation. Done well, it saves the business. Done badly, it just breaks things faster.
We are looking for someone with:
- 4+ years’ professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or similar role
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, IAM, Lambda, and related cloud services
- Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Solid experience working with Kubernetes, including EKS or self-managed clusters
- Strong Docker and containerisation experience
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, or equivalent
- Good understanding of cloud networking, monitoring, access control, and security best practices
- Experience supporting production environments where uptime, performance, and stability matter
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent English communication skills, ideally B2 level or above
- A proactive mindset with the ability to spot risks, improve systems, and take ownership
Advantageous Experience
You will stand out if you have:
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification or similar Kubernetes credentials
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or CloudWatch
- Experience with AWS cost optimisation and performance tuning
- Exposure to sports betting, iGaming, fintech, or other high-volume transactional platforms
- Experience working in regulated, security-conscious, or high-availability environments
What’s In It For You
This is a strong opportunity to join a growing technology business working on cloud infrastructure that supports complex international digital products.
The offer includes:
- A competitive salary aligned with your experience and capability
- Regular salary reviews linked to performance and growth
- A hybrid working model from a brand-new, trendy Cape Town office
- A modern, energetic office environment designed for collaboration, focus, and technical problem-solving
- Flexible working hours that support work-life balance
- Support for professional development, including training and certification costs
- Challenging infrastructure and cloud engineering projects that will stretch your skills
- A collaborative technology culture where your ideas and improvements are taken seriously
- The opportunity to influence DevOps standards, tooling, automation, and cloud practices as the Cape Town team grows
- Exposure to high-impact digital products in the sports betting and iGaming sector
- A role where your work directly improves reliability, scalability, deployment speed, and production confidence
Who Should Apply
This role is ideal for a DevOps Engineer who enjoys building systems that are robust, automated, observable, and ready for scale.
You might be a strong fit if you are the kind of engineer who would rather fix the root cause than babysit the same recurring incident every week. You understand that good DevOps is not just about tools; it is about engineering discipline, automation, resilience, visibility, and helping teams deliver better software with less chaos.
In this role, your work will sit behind the scenes, but its impact will be very visible. When deployments are smooth, infrastructure is stable, alerts are meaningful, and teams can move faster with confidence, that is DevOps doing its job properly.
