Job description
Reporting to the Quality Director and working closely with Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering you will play a crucial role in delivering product quality and customer satisfaction. As the primary Quality interface with our customers, you will develop strong working relationships to build their confidence in Acro. This will be achieved through the implementation Quality best practices, establishing agreed product standards, effective problem resolution and product quality improvement initiatives.
In this role you will lead and develop the Quality Team and support other functions in establishing a customer first driven quality culture. Influence the development of product quality during new product development, OE build and the aftermarket activities through the application of Quality tools and techniques to guarantee smooth introduction and maintenance of quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
• Manage the Manufacturing Quality team to activities to deliver business performance and annual objectives. Providing specialist expertise in the application and deployment of Quality tools.
• Quality representative for operational tiered reviews and escalation reviews.
• Establish and maintain quality assurance and control processes to ensure product standards are consistently achieved across suppliers and within Acro manufacturing to deliver Right First Time production and customer satisfaction.
• Manage and control non-conforming material through the Material Review Board, Return to Vendor and inhouse problem solving, to reduce scrap and rework costs, improved FPY and reduced customer complaints.
• As the main point of contact for product Quality, build positive relationships with Airframe manufacturers, Airlines and suppliers.
• Lead quality aspects of Supplier selection and management, performance scorecard and drive supplier quality improvement. Maintaining supplier controls (Goods Inwards Inspection, FAIR), driving corrective actions (NCM, RTV, CAR/8D) and escalation in collaboration with the Supply Chain team.
• Develop the Quality team skills, bench strength and a successor pipeline.
• Drive continual improvement activities to improve quality, cost, delivery and operational performance and actively promote a Quality culture.
• Develop and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing quality processes, methods and practices in line with the Acro Business Management System, to achieve excellent standards.
Skills and experience required
• Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS9145 and Part 21G. Approved auditor would be an advantage.
• Strong working knowledge of quality assurance and control tools and techniques and experience in Lean manufacturing techniques.
• Hands on experience of 8D problem solving methodology and supporting tools & techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Ability to lead, manage and mentor a Quality team to achieve goals that contribute to the growth of the organisation.
• Possessing a strong customer focus and commercial acumen, you will be organized, and results driven with a focus on achieving results and meeting deadlines.
• Experience in driving change to deliver Continuous improvement.
• Diligent, enthusiastic and driven, with an excellent work ethic, and a “can do” attitude.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage conflicting demands.
• Highly adaptable and capable of making decisions in a fast and pressured environment.
• Confident in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
• Experience in various manufacturing methods and techniques including surface treatments (Ie. Zinc plating and Anodising) and ability to verify in accordance with Engineering data and cosmetic standards.
This role profile is not exhaustive; it will be subject to periodic review and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the business. The post holder will be expected to participate in this process, and we would aim to reach agreement to the changes.
