Role Overview

 

A prestigious tertiary care hospital in Saudi Arabia is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Pediatric Anesthesiologist to join its advanced surgical and critical care team. The role involves delivering safe, high-quality anesthesia care to pediatric patients undergoing a wide range of surgical and diagnostic procedures while contributing to teaching, research, and clinical governance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive anesthesia care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents undergoing elective and emergency procedures
  • Develop individualized anesthetic plans based on patient history, surgical needs, and perioperative risk
  • Monitor and manage patients throughout the perioperative period, including post-anesthesia recovery
  • Supervise and mentor junior anesthetists, residents, and fellows
  • Participate in pediatric code blue and critical care response teams
  • Contribute to departmental teaching, simulation training, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with SCFHS regulations and hospital policies
  • Engage in clinical research and continuing medical education

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with completed residency in Anesthesiology
  • Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology from a recognized institution
  • Board-certified (e.g., American Board, UK CCT, Canadian FRCP, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2–5 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric anesthesia
  • Eligible for Consultant classification by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
  • Proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage
  • Strong communication and crisis management skills

 

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in neonatal and pediatric intensive care settings
  • Familiarity with advanced monitoring and anesthesia technologies
  • Commitment to patient safety, family-centered care, and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Interest in academic teaching or pediatric anesthesia research
