Role Overview

 

We are seeking a highly qualified Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist to lead and deliver specialized eye care services for children at a prestigious hospital in Saudi Arabia. The role involves clinical excellence, surgical expertise, and active participation in teaching and research within a multidisciplinary pediatric team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye conditions, including strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataracts, and retinopathy of prematurity
  • Perform pediatric ophthalmic surgeries and advanced diagnostic procedures
  • Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and fellows
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, neurologists, and geneticists in complex case management
  • Participate in academic activities, research, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and hospital policies
  • Contribute to the development of pediatric ophthalmology services and community outreach programs

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with completed residency in Ophthalmology
  • Fellowship or subspecialty certification in Pediatric Ophthalmology
  • Board-certified (e.g., American Board, UK CCT, Arab Board, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric ophthalmology
  • SCFHS Consultant classification eligibility is mandatory
  • Proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage
  • Dataflow verification and professional references required

 

Preferred Attributes

  • Skilled in pediatric ocular surgery and managing rare congenital eye disorders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children and families
  • Experience in teaching, clinical research, or public health ophthalmology
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and digital imaging tools
