Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled consultant ophthalmologist (retinopathy of prematurity) to join a prestigious hospital in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of retinal diseases, with a focus on neonatal and pediatric cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and other retinal disorders
- Perform specialized ophthalmic procedures, including laser therapy, cryotherapy, and intravitreal injections for ROP
- Conduct thorough retinal screenings for premature infants in neonatal intensive care units
- Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and multidisciplinary medical teams
- Develop and implement treatment protocols to manage and prevent visual impairment in affected infants
- Provide expert consultation on retinal surgeries and advanced imaging techniques
- Educate parents and caregivers on ROP risks, progression, and preventive measures
- Stay updated with advancements in retinal surgery and pediatric ophthalmology
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
Requirements:
- Medical degree with specialization in ophthalmology and retinal disorders
- Fellowship training in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) or pediatric retina
- Valid DHA, DOH, or MOH license to practice in the UAE or eligibility to obtain one
- Minimum five years of experience as a consultant ophthalmologist
- Expertise in laser photocoagulation, retinal surgery, and diagnostic imaging for neonatal patients
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in retinal disease management
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, especially in neonatal care settings
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and handle complex patient cases
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Abu Dhabi or the GCC region
- Research experience in ROP treatment advancements
- Familiarity with teleophthalmology and AI-assisted retinal screenings
