Position Overview:
As a consultant in surgical critical care, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients, primarily those who have undergone major surgeries. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU). You will also be responsible for evaluating and managing post-operative complications, as well as providing support and guidance to the nursing staff in the SICU.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess and manage critically ill patients in the SICU, including those who have undergone major surgeries.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide post-operative care and closely monitor patients for any complications.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of the patient’s progress and treatment.
• Collaborate with other consultants, surgeons, and specialists to provide the best possible outcome for patients.
• Attend and participate in hospital rounds, meetings, and reviews as required.
• Provide support and guidance to the nursing staff in the SICU.
• Take part in continuous education and training programs to keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in critical care.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Medical degree from an accredited university.
• Board certification in surgical critical care from the American Board is mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a consultant in surgical critical care in a reputable healthcare organization.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
