As the Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Consultant, you will be responsible for providing specialized and comprehensive medical care to children with blood diseases and cancer. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and provide emotional and educational support to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct detailed and accurate assessments of patients, including their medical history, diagnostic tests, and current symptoms.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, MRI scans, and x-rays, to determine the presence and extent of diseases or conditions.
• Administer appropriate medications and therapies, as well as monitor and manage potential side effects.
• Perform procedures, such as bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, lumbar puncture, and skin biopsies, to aid in diagnosis or treatment.
• Provide emotional support and counselling to patients and their families, as well as educate them on disease management and coping strategies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring patient confidentiality is always maintained.
• Keep abreast of new developments and advancements in paediatric haematology-oncology, both in terms of research and treatment options.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Medical degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in both Paediatrics and Haematology-Oncology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Consultant.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in a teaching hospital or academic setting is preferred.
• The candidate must have received Western training or education
