Senior Vehicle Technician

Purpose of the role:

 

We are looking for an experienced Technician who shares our ambitious vision and values to make Bristol a cleaner and greener place to live and work! 

Working in the workshop and reporting to the Workshop Manager, the senior mechanic fitter will lead the Workshop team to ensure service provisions are continuously met.

Duties will include repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions and ensuring vehicles comply with statutory legislation. The post holder will troubleshoot breakdowns and conduct quality control inspections.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate and direct the team, including task allocation, coaching and development of apprentices
  • Carrying out routine inspections, MOT preparations and quality control inspections, ensuring vehicles always comply with statutory legislations.
  • Carrying out pro-active and re-active maintenance, defects and breakdowns.
  • Ensure fleet compliance records and workshop reports are completed correctly in date and efficiently retained.
  • Repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions.
  • Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software
  • Evaluate service / parts options and communicate with the team the best option of repair.

  • Compile job cards and maintain systems for the recording of fleet compliance records and workshop reports
  • Ensure site facilities are secure during opening hours and responsibility for securing the premises at the end of shift
  • Take responsibility of parts movements from stock
  • Ensure Brand image is of high standard

Essential Requirements and qualifications for the Role:

  • Qualifications in vehicle maintenance - G&G level 2/ IRTEC/ Manufacturer or demonstrable ‘qualified by experience’
  • Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate and direct a team of technicians
  • Effective communication skills
  • Hold a full driving licence valid for use in the UK
