Role Overview:
As the Head of Compliance / AML Officer (AMLO) at Cryptonow Austria, you will be responsible for overseeing all EU compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) activities. Your role will ensure that the company adheres to FMA Austria regulations, EU MiCAR, and AML requirements. You will lead the compliance team and employees, building the team from the ground up with your experience. Additionally, you will manage compliance risk and be responsible for the identification and mitigation of compliance risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework in line with FMA Austria regulations, EU MiCAR, and FMA / EU AML requirements.
- Lead the compliance team, including hiring, training, and developing team members to ensure a robust compliance team.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all compliance and regulatory matters, ensuring effective communication with regulatory authorities, including the FMA.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations.
- Oversee AML activities, including transaction monitoring, reporting suspicious activities, and conducting investigations.
- Ensure the company’s policies and procedures are up-to-date with the latest regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance-related matters, fostering a culture of compliance within the organization.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance and risk management.
- Manage compliance risk, identifying and mitigating potential risks to the organization.
- Utilize industry-leading AML and compliance software tools to support daily business activities and enhance risk management processes.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks related to AML and compliance in the crypto and financial sectors.
Qualifications:
- Qualified as an AML Officer (AMLO) / FMA GWB with relevant industry certifications and training.
- At least 5 years of experience in the financial sector, with a preference for experience in a regulated FMA / CASP crypto- or financial industry.
- In-depth knowledge of FMA Austria regulations, EU MiCAR, and AML requirements.
- Proven experience in developing and running compliance programs and managing regulatory relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical compliance solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and guide employees on compliance matters.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
- Fluency in German and English is required.
