Dexerto is looking for a talented full-time North American-based gaming writer who can specialize in Pokemon as well as cover other topics. You will be expected to work across the weekend.
You should be an ambitious writer who is able to source and write compelling stories that will appeal to Pokemon fans. This will include the Trading Card Game, the anime, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pokemon Go, as well as other stories that will resonate with the audience.
As you will be writing about all Pokemon games and trending news, you need to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the current games and the franchise's history first and foremost. We would love to hear about the other games you play within your cover letter, too. This could be Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Zelda, or anything else!
The ability to write about a few other games and gaming culture is essential
Some knowledge of SEO is also desirable.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of Pokemon
- Broader knowledge of gaming and gaming culture
- A snappy and compelling writing style
- Able to write to short deadlines under pressure
- Have a keen attention to detail – can spot grammatical errors and fact check.
- Able to act independently on writing tasks
- Is confident with social media
- SEO knowledge is desirable but not essential
- Own computing equipment that can run Photoshop and be able to use it competently
- Experience with content management systems is desirable
- Able to work full-time hours (40) without other education or job commitments
