Dexerto is looking for a talented pop music news writer to join our Australian Editorial team, working remotely from home full-time, 5 days a week.
We are looking for a writer who is passionate about pop music to cover the latest news on the biggest artists on the planet. We're talking the likes of Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, The Weeknd, BTS, BlackPink, and more.
You can expect to be sourcing and writing news stories about the biggest trending talking points, new releases and tour dates, as well as explaining song lyrics.
Requirements
- Understanding of the music industry, including knowledge of trending artists & songs, knowledge about artists' lives & drama, keeping up with album releases, and understanding the meaning of song lyrics
- A snappy and compelling writing style
- Fluent in English
- Able to write to short deadlines under pressure
- Have a keen attention to detail – can spot grammatical errors and fact check
- Creative ability – able to think of feature ideas and suggest news stories that will resonate with our audience
- Able to act independently on writing tasks
- Is confident with social media
- SEO knowledge desirable
- Own computing equipment that can run Photoshop and be able to use it competently
- Experience with content management systems is desirable
- Able to work full-time hours (40) without other education or job commitments
