The DineAmic Hospitality Training Specialist will be responsible for the upkeep, facilitation, implementation, and effectiveness of training programs and materials for hourly employees at DineAmic Hospitality restaurants. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, attentive, is able to work independently, follow direction, and has a formal background in education. This role will be based out of the DineAmic corporate office but will require working in-venue, at various locations. The Training Specialist will report directly to the Senior Manager of Learning and Development.
General Functions and Responsibilities
Update, edit, and create:
- Comprehensive training materials and resources for all front-of-house and back-of-house hourly positions across all brands
- Effective training modules, presentations, manuals, and interactive activities that cover essential service skills, product knowledge, and company policies on a routine basis, in a variety of learning styles to capture all learners
- Formative and summative assessments that effectively evaluate employee’s comprehension of materials and skills, in various learning styles to reach all learners
Train & Facilitate
- Conduct engaging, classroom-style and on-the-floor workshops for hourly employees, spending time on the floor to ensure new hires are being trained and following steps of service
- Educate staff about the menu offerings, ingredients, preparation methods, allergies, and recommended beverage pairings to enhance their ability to provide informed recommendations to guests
- Demonstrate and teach service techniques to hourly employees that promote a hospitable, attentive, and personalized experience for guests
- Provide clear and direct feedback during service observations, correcting issues in the moment when appropriate
- Collaborate with management teams to facilitate hourly service seminars and other ad-hoc trainings
- Use clear and concise communication in classroom and 1:1 settings for new hires to obtain knowledge about service procedures, food, and beverage in the restaurant
- Train staff on upselling, suggestive selling techniques, and how to obtain the “perfect check”
- Provide guidance on handling challenging situations and customer complaints diplomatically, aiming for swift resolution while preserving guest satisfaction
Evaluate & Maintain
- Communicate with FOH and BOH management to ensure venue food and beverage materials are updated regularly
- Communicate with FOH and BOH management to ensure training procedures are being followed
- Monitor ongoing training quizzes and modules to reinforce skills, address areas of improvement, and introduce new concepts or menu items; create new materials as needed
- Set and analyze KPIs, updating leadership on status of engagement, completion and areas of opportunity, and adapt teaching approaches as necessary
- Use modifications and make testing accommodations to ensure employees with learning needs and language barriers have access to materials
- Additional duties as needed within the scope of the role

- In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry standards, customer service principles, and best practices
- High level of technical proficiency and computer skills
- Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- High level of organization and attention to detail
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Degree or certificate in education required, with three to five years experience as a trainer or educator
- Previous experience in restaurant service required; background in various service styles (fine dining, casual dining, etc.) preferred
- Experience working with a Learning Management Software (LMS) is preferred
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
