The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents, while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and presentation. This role plays an important part in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through food that is not only nourishing but also enjoyable.
HOURS: 9am-2pm M-F
Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and resident dietary requirements (e.g., low sodium, diabetic-friendly, soft/pureed).
Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served in a sanitary manner following health and safety regulations.
Assist with menu planning and make suggestions for resident-approved meal options.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, including proper handling of equipment and food storage.
Monitor food inventory and communicate needs to management in a timely manner.
Serve meals in a courteous and professional manner; engage positively with residents during mealtime.
Collaborate with dietary aides and other staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Accommodate special dietary requests and food allergies as needed.
-High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
-Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, assisted living, or senior care setting.
-Knowledge of basic nutrition, food preparation methods, and safe food handling practices (ServSafe Certification a plus).
-Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and dietary protocols.
-Compassionate and respectful demeanor toward the elderly.
-Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
-Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
