A successful Baggage Team Leader ensures that baggage handling operations follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and are able to meet established standards. He/ she resolves issues on operations during baggage handling and ensures baggage are dispatched timely.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that manuals, process descriptions and procedures are updated and are in line with international and national regulations and companies’ policies.
Provide relevant stakeholders staff with supervision, guidance, and support in live operation to ensure safe, efficient and smooth baggage handling operation in the assigned area from customer experience, OTP, and equipment, systems & facilities availability and reliability perspectives. - Ensure timely dispatch of baggages to meet established handling standards.
- Allocate equipment and build up as per the customer airlines baggage requirements in accordance with instructions from Load Control, SOP and published customer airline procedures.
- Efficiently deliver customer airlines baggage for departure flights adhering to Safety, Security and on time as per agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Communicate effectively about load plan and required number of ULD for flights with Load Control/CLC and update if any shortfall or excess units or changes are in plan.
- Ensure Airline SOPs are followed for baggage handling for both arrival and departure activities to achieve KPIs and avoid delays and mishandlings.
- Report any discrepancy to Duty Manager immediately for proper escalation and action to avoid its reoccurrence in future.
- Complete the baggage checklist with all relevant details for every departure flight to ensure that all required SOPs of handling departure flights are complete which will in turn help to avoid any possible discrepancies or errors.
- Coordinate with OCC to clear EBS bags on time, MUF opening times and any changes in belt allocation or flight open timings.
- Responsible for overall transfer Infeed to make sure inbound baggage are offloaded according to the precision time schedule.
Safety
- Ensure a safe and secure build up and transfer of the specified baggage from the various baggage facilities to the aircraft side whereby the service levels are maintained as per the SLA / SOP.
- Responsible for the health and safety duty of care at the workplace.
- Ensure to report any hazards, injuries, ill-health or near miss to your supervisor or employer.
- Cooperate with your employer when they require something to be done for health and safety at the workplace
Requirement
5+ years Ground handling services/environment either with an airline or fixed base operator
