Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth handling of cargo throughout Cargo Operations by performing a multi-skilled role while utilizing the resources provided effectively. Tasks include, but are not limited to, documentation, customer service, acceptance, delivery, breakdown, build up, equipment operation, transport and coordination with government authorities.
- Liaise with government authorities such as Customs, Health or Police/Security in an efficient and effective manner to ensure the smooth movement of all cargo, courier and mail.
- Inspect, validate against relevant documentation and count goods at every point of delivery, acceptance, breakdown and build-up ensuring that goods conform to relevant criteria and that they are dispatched / stored in accordance with standard work procedures and principals’ requirements.
- Participate in the continuous improvement programmes/initiatives of the Company and implement with thorough understanding and commitment quality standards as necessary.
- Ensure a high degree of customer service, attentiveness, speed, and control error rates, whilst maintaining consistency in service standards.
- Perform manual and automated data input. Ensure data updates into relevant systems (where available) are done accurately, are verified and completed within time standards
- Ensure that safety and security procedures are always complied with while handling cargo
- Responsible for the health and safety duty of care at the workplace.
- Ensure to report any hazards, injuries, ill-health or near miss to your supervisor or employer.
- Cooperate with your employer when they require something to be done for health and safety at the workplace
- Complete administrative duties as directed by the Cargo Supervisor/Officer, including data entry, statistics and reports
- Perform the process of acceptance, delivery, build up and breakdown of cargo consignments. Operate equipment as required (such as tow tractors/pick up/ forklifts etc) for movement of loads. Manually loading/unloading cargo from the ULDs / Aircraft /trucks as appropriate.
- Direct and assist the team of Porters and Equipment Operators as required in build-up and breakdown, acceptance and delivery, and documentation of cargo, courier and mail from/to customers, in accordance with the requirements of the principals whilst complying with published performance standards.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- 3-4 years’ experience in a Cargo Operations environment, including at least 2 years as a Cargo Agent
- Proficient knowledge in Airport Operations
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations and ideally hold a DG certificate (CAT-6).
- Knowledge of Live Animal Regulation (acceptance of live animals).
- Computer based skills including Microsoft Word/ Excel/ E-mail.
- English language test level 5 required with a passing grade of 60%
- Effective communication; verbal and written.
