A successful QHSE Officer support the QSHE Manager to ensure that dnata delivers service standards in accordance with the expectations and drives continuous improvement. Responsible for day-to-day administration of quality, health, safety, and environment activities in collaboration with operations and support functions.
- Co-ordination of daily hazard identification, observation and risk mitigation activities that will allow the operations to compile a local hazard register for all identified hazards and subsequent hazard control plans arising from injuries, accidents, near misses, audits, workplace inspections, safety observations and staff.
- Drives compliance and empowers all personnel to demonstrate and take ownership of dnata’s one safety approach.
- Liaises with and collaborates with key stakeholders (airport authorities, customer airlines and regulatory bodies) on operational safety related issues, practices and safety initiatives.
- Performs a daily verification of the latest dnata safety bulletins, directives and alerts where applicable to ensure that the core safety messages are effectively promulgated to all front-line supervisors and line managers.
- Deep knowledge of Emergency Response Plan, Contingencies and Business Continuity to support the QHSE Manager to execute.
Duties/ Responsibilities
Quality
- Monitor operational activities for adherence to internal requirements, Customer Airlines procedures as well as compliance with relevant Regulatory Authorities requirements.
- Ensure documentation and compliance within the company Global standards framework.
- Coordinate actions with departments to ensure performance and compliance are in line with the standards required.
- Quality assurance activities with audit planning, resources, execution, measures, and reporting.
- Facilitate Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions for the completed audits.
- Coordinate airline audits and follow-up with closing audit findings.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with applicable regulatory and certification bodies as well as customers, regulatory authorities on matters concerning compliance.
- Provide support for second party and third-party audits (Regulatory Authorities, Certification Bodies and Customer Airlines).
- Produce and amend the quality documentation and provide guidance to departments on documents standards.
- Control of external documents (Customers GOM, IATA manuals, regulations).
- Implement and maintain an effective control process for internal and external documentation.
- Support the implementation of group initiatives as part of global standardization.
Health
- Conduct health awareness sessions/trainings as required by the company and/or in line with airport authority recommendations.
- Report health risks with an impact to the operations.
Environment
- Report on environmental related incidents within the company and where applicable to the regulatory authorities concerned.
- Adhere to the environmental regulation and requirements.
Safety
- Conduct team safety briefings regularly and be exemplary in intervention to a risky work environment.
- Be a role model for safe behaviors and follows up on corrective actions.
- Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and control to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure the safety of staff that they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to work safely by providing support, advice and directions.
Other responsibilities
- Expert knowledge of dGOM and dCOM requirements to monitor and verify compliance to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to all operational staff on safety related matters.
- Administrations and updates dnata GRC platform when required.
- Performs STOP observations and mentors and coaches all operational personnel.
- Co-ordinates and participates in local safety campaigns and initiatives allied with Safety Manager directives and in support of dnata 2024 HSE strategic goals and objectives.
- Supports and contributes to the development and implementation of annual safety improvement plans to support the strategic objectives of dnata.
- Liaison with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to represent dnata safety interests.
- Active facilitation and participation in risk assessments for baseline operations and major activities, monitoring risk control effectiveness across department and reporting on performance.
- Supports prepare data and presentation for the local safety board meetings.
- Performs workplace inspections on the work areas as per the agreed frequency
- Ensure the regulatory requirements are met with key Occupational Safety and Health authorities i.e. Fire department, OSH-Directory Zanzibar etc.
- Attend organized Safety related workshops on behalf of the QHSE Manager as deemed necessary.
- Perform incident investigations for the Level 1 incidents and participate as needed in Level 2 and 3 investigations.
Job Specific skills/ Requirements
- 2 – 5 years related QHSE experience and/or training.
- Professional and detail-oriented thought process.
- Able to work various shifts, including weekends.
