Boxing Coach
Reports to: Senior Health and Wellbeing Programme Lead

Role Overview
As a part of Enable’s short breaks offer we deliver Disability boxing classes that cater for a variety of different needs and ages. We currently run 1 inclusive class for 8 – 18 year olds with pan disabilities. Sessions run in 8-10 week blocks on Saturdays over the school term approximately from 11am – 12pm in Roehampton. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about community-based work, inclusive coaching and working with young people.
Job Purpose
- The post-holder will be responsible for delivering a fun boxing session for attendees.
- They will be required to work with varying levels of abilities from ages 8+.
- The post-holder will be responsible for delivering a high class service considering the level of the group and adapting experiences for the different groups and their needs, ensuring an accessible and enjoyable experience for all.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a weekly physical activity session for each group considering safety and progression with each the sessions.
- Provide motivation and encouragement for the participants and parents to engage in each of the sessions and stay engaged throughout.
- Responsible for setting up, packing away and monitoring equipment. Reporting any damage or loss to programme co-ordinator.
- Responsible for taking weekly registers and monitoring attendance.
- Responsible for leading volunteers ensuring that they have roles defined in the sessions.
- Responsible for administering first aid in the event of an accident and ensuring that safety requirements are met in all areas.
Personal Specification
- Relevant qualification in boxing coaching.
- Experience of delivering sports and physical activity (or similar) programmes for children, young people and adults. Experience working with Disability groups.
- Understanding of delivering to a diverse community in and the implications for service delivery.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and the implications for service delivery.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to work with children and adults with disabilities.
Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills. High level of attention to detail. - Very good communication skills, verbal and written. Able to communicate with a range of different people.
- Able to meet service users needs and support them in the sessions.
- Able to work effectively with others in a team openly and collaboratively, valuing their differences creating a working environment which helps achieve goals.
- Able to behave ethically and professionally and achieve high levels of performance in self and others.
Commitment to valuing equality and diversity and understanding of how this applies to this area of work. - Commitment to own professional and personal development and willingness to undertake training and development as appropriate to the role.
- Caring and understanding person looking to get the best out of the service users, encouraging independence and self-advocacy.
- Understanding of Makaton or British Sign Language (desirable but not essential).
