Salary: From £25,828 to £28,354 per year
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Role Overview
- Based at Putney Vale Cemetery and Crematorium and reporting to the Crematorium Operations Manager, your role will be varied covering administration, attendance duties at both burial and cremation services and carrying out cremations in the crematory. You will train to hold the Crematorium Technician Training Scheme (CTTS) qualification and will be dealing with enquiries from the public and liaising with funeral directors and clergy in person, by phone and letter/email.
Job Purpose
- Accountable to the Crematorium Operations Manager for administration, chapel and burial attendance, crematory operations and working in the Garden of Remembrance.
- Engaging with the bereaved in the sale of memorials following cremation including advising on options, administration, ordering and the placing of memorials in the gardens and Recordia room.
- Carrying out crematorium operations in accordance with standards laid down by the Institute of Cemetery and Cremation Management (ICCM) Charter for the Bereaved and statutory regulations including the crematoriums Pollution Prevention Control Environmental permit.
- Collaborating with our colleagues by providing cover at North East Surrey Crematorium and the further company by adopting the ‘One Enable’ culture, supporting activities throughout the business.
- Your role involves more than paperwork; you'll be hands-on, handling manual duties, including the respectful movement and charging of coffins into the cremator and other associated duties.
- Being an ambassador of the service showing families around the grounds and facilities promoting the options available for funerals and memorialisation.
- Beyond the emotional aspects, you'll ensure that every corner of the Crematorium, including Chapels and public areas, exudes cleanliness and dignity. Your dedication contributes to creating a serene and comforting environment for visitors.
- A flexible approach to the working week with working patterns covering Monday to Sunday and bank holidays.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.
