Role Overview
- An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to promote one of London’s most popular and exciting boroughs for filmmaking. The Wandsworth Film Office is managed by Enable and is a one stop shop for filmmakers looking to shoot their project on location in Wandsworth. We connect filmmakers with council services, raise licensing revenues for the borough and promoting Wandsworth as a filming destination.
- As Film Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the film office. You will work as part of a small team managing all film, television, and photography shoots across the borough of Wandsworth and on Council owned sites. You will report directly into the Head of Service and will then be managing two members of staff. The role requires a self-starter with great attention to detail, experience at managing multiple projects at any given time and works well to tight deadlines. You will be a talented communicator and have experience working with a range of partners and stakeholders, often with competing priorities.
- You will have previous experience as a Manager in a similar role, from a filming and television production background. You will have a good understanding of film and television production, especially relating to location filming. Excellent customer service is essential, as you will work closely with clients in the creative industry and represent the Council at meetings with partners and residents.
- This role will require you to manage shoots on site and attend site visits at locations across the borough. Applicants should be available to work evenings and weekends and be prepared to be flexible in their working hours.

Job Purpose
- Management and supervision of two film office staff members.
- Working alongside the Head of Service and being responsible for the implementation of excellent Health and Safety procedures on location to ensure safe working practices of all staff, contractors and clients.
- Deputises for the Head of Filming in her absence for all matters relating to filming.
- Assists the Head of Filming to maximise income from film location fees by providing a ‘one-stop’ service for filmmakers. Promotes and markets the Film Office to potential clients.
- Responsible for all routine administration in relation to the day to day running of the Film Office, including the maintenance of correspondence and records for all location filming on Wandsworth Council-owned property.
- Responsible for providing the Head of Filming with income figures and financial breakdowns on projects and negotiating on fees with Location Managers, after consultation with the Head of Filming.
- Responsible for raising and approving invoices and purchase orders; chasing up invoices as directed.
- Responsible for the maintenance of correspondence and records for all location filming on Wandsworth Council owned property;
- Responsible for ensuring that all relevant documentation is submitted to the film office prior to location filming commencing and that all complex risk assessments and method statements have been received and are reviewed by the Head of Filming.
- Assists with the delivery of the Filming Strategy and provides input into reviews of the strategy as required.
- Compiles statistics and completes returns for compliments and complaints.
- Responsible for dealing with queries relating to relevant work areas raised by the Council and members of the public.
- The post will involve working in the evenings and weekends.
- Responsible for the co-ordination of the online diary system into the Events diary and for liaising with all other departments to ensure there is no conflict with filming activities.
- Working outside of normal office hours to assist in the facilitation of medium and large scale film shoots. Enforces the Terms & Conditions for filming in the Borough and refers up to the Head of Filming if called to deal with emergencies relating to filming, outside of normal working hours.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, as directed by the Head of Filming.
Person Specification
- Have management experience.
- Be a confident and effective communicator who can liaise with a variety of stakeholders and partners
- Be a decisive manager who can make difficult decisions in a timely manner.
- Be articulate and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Be proactive, and versatile, with willingness to be flexible to help meet urgent and important business deadlines.
- Ability to work well under pressure and react to change at short notice.
- Knowledge of importance of Health and Safety.
- Can prioritise own workload with good time management abilities.
- Ability to attend site meetings or work out of hours as required.
- Social Media experience would be beneficial.
