We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lifeguard to join our Active Communities team at Enable!

Reports to: Active Communities Manager and Active Communities Programme Lead

Based: Burntwood Swimming Pool

Salary: £15.77 per hour (inclusive of A/L)

Work Arrangement: 8 hours per week, casual contract

Contract: Casual 

DBS: Enhanced 

  

 

Role Overview: 

  • Reporting to the Active Communities Programme Lead for supervising at poolside evening Swim Programme sessions for children, young people and adults at based at Burntwood School. To work with other swimming staff to set up, take down and maintain Enable Leisure and Sport’s equipment. 
  • We are looking for a passionate, reliable and punctual individual that will be happy to do 4hrs on a Tuesday evening and 4hrs on a Thursday evening, this is to lifeguard our community swim sessions as well as our Women’s only swim sessions. The employee would need to be able to travel to and from Burntwood swimming pool.

Main Duties/Responsibilities 

  • To ensure the safety of children, young people and adults of varying swimming abilities in and around the pool.
  • To provide first aid when needed. 
  • Be reliable, energetic and enthusiastic with an ability to engage participants, spot hazards and prevent accidents whilst following Swim England and National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification guidelines. 
  • Evening working is required, and this is subject to seasonal variations (term time only).  
  • Provide regular communications to the responsible Active Communities Programme Lead and swimming instructors with details of the sessions and any related information.  
  • Adhere to the Enable’s human resources policies.  
  • Comply with Health & Safety legislation to ensure safe working practices of all staff, public and contractors in the working environment, in accordance with Enable’s and the venue’s safety arrangements, policies and codes. 
  • Be committed to professional development by identifying any training that will assist the role.  
  • To understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children’s Act 2004 in relation to safeguarding children and young people. To ensure the appropriate member of staff is made aware and kept fully informed of any concerns which you may have in relation to safeguarding and/or child protection. 

 

The successful candidate will have 

  • Hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification of which includes first aid.  
  • Have a sound knowledge of the Swim England curriculum. 
  • A knowledge and understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and young people and its relevance to the role of a Lifeguard, demonstrating integrity always and a willingness to attend training as required.  
  • Experience of lifeguarding in a swimming environment in either a leisure or competitive setting.  
  • Experience of working collaboratively, in a team setting.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to converse with key people (including colleagues, children,  young people, other organisations and the general public).  
  • Punctual and reliable for sessions in the week.  
  • Working with young children and having a passion for swimming
