Support Worker Role - Mixed Shift
Shifts/Hours:
Shifts – a minimum of 36 hours a week:
Day Support (Term time): 15:00 – 19:30 (4.5 hours)
Day Support (School holidays): 10.30 – 19.30 (9 hours)
Nights: 19:30 to 10.00 (14.5 hours)
Pay:
Day Support: £10 - £12 per hour, depending upon experience
Sleeping night: £80 - £96, depending upon experience +2.5 hours paid at day rate
Waking night: £120 - £144, depending upon experience +2.5 hours paid at day rate
Our Client/ The Role:
You will be expected to also cover Weekend hours for a minimum of 1 or 2 shifts per month.
We are looking for a Support Worker to join a large, established care team in a permanent, contracted, or self-employed role, working on a rota basis.
Our client is 14 years old and has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, therefore requiring help with all aspects of her 24-hour care. She lives with her parents and two younger siblings. She is an easy going person who is non-verbal and easy to read once you get to know her. She enjoys arts and crafts, shopping trips, cinema and bowling. Our client is a full-time wheelchair user.
The day shift support would include collecting our client from school and assistance with after school activities. Our client is peg-fed, home-cooked nutritional meals and help with the preparation of these meals would be required before handing over to the evening shift. The evening shift support would include assistance with night-time routines and assistance with the morning school run.
Help with household tasks will be an integral part of the role as well as assistance with administration, communication, and cover for other team members.
About You:
You will be a reliable, patient, energetic and happy person with a fun-loving personality who has a positive and empathetic attitude to working and supporting a person with additional needs.
Working with the team, you will help maintain her routines and enable a smooth transition between team shifts. You will be someone who can be flexible in your approach and have good communication skills, particularly in developing and supporting communication.
You will have ideally worked in the Care industry for a minimum of two to three years however, if you have less experience but feel that your skillset would be an asset to the team, then please do still apply.
You must be a driver aged 21 or over for insurance purposes as you will drive our client’s adapted automatic, passenger transport vehicle.
You will have no pet allergies as the family include two dogs.
An enhanced DBS certificate is a requirement, criminal convictions may not necessarily prevent employment. If you do not have a DBS certificate, the Employer will arrange one for you.
