Do you have a passion for engineering and software testing? Flowbird are seeking a Senior System Test Engineer to join our System Test Team. This role is responsible for all aspects of testing on integrated transport systems, ensuring high-quality solutions for smart cities worldwide.

As a Senior System Test Engineer, you will collaborate closely with development teams, design architects, project managers, and, at times, end users. A strong understanding of V-Model and Agile test methodologies is highly desirable, along with the ability to adhere to project deliverables and industry standards.
You will be working on hardware equipment so we will require you to be in our Poole office 3-5 days a week.
What you'll do:
- Lead and support the System Test Team, coordinating test scenario creation and execution.
- Plan and manage testing across the SDLC, including scheduling activities and timelines.
- Define test approaches and write test plans for releases.
- Identify, analyse, and report project/test risks, including RAID management.
- Oversee defect management, run triage meetings, and ensure resolution.
- Conduct static testing of project documents and requirements.
- Deploy systems for testing and maintain test environments/equipment.
- Provide test input on scope, estimates, and project schedules.
- Report test activity and progress to the Test Manager and stakeholders.
- Provide feedback to development and delivery teams to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with Development, Program Management, and Design teams to improve testing processes.
- Manage stakeholders, ensuring accurate information supports decision-making.
- Embed best practices and quality improvements within the Test Team.
- Maintain and manage both generic and bespoke test documentation.
- Foster a service-minded and customer-centric approach.
- Line management of up to three Test Engineers, mentoring to enhance skills and productivity.
We require:
- 4+ years of system testing experience from planning to delivery.
- ISTQB Foundation certification (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in software testing, tools, and practices.
- Expertise in test planning and defect management.
- Strong knowledge of software development, testing processes, and best practices.
- Experience with test management tools - Testrail, X-Ray, and Jira.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and a passion for quality.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to quality through meticulous testing and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of environment/config management and networking protocols.
- Proficiency in PCs, Windows, and PC networks.
- SQL experience or awareness.
Ideally you will have:
- ISTQB Advanced level or equivalent.
- Customer-facing and automated testing experience.
- Knowledge of transport or ticketing systems.
- Additional qualifications in computing, engineering, science, or testing.
