Power BI Data Modelling Consultant (DAX, SQL, Dimensional Modelling) at Gigged.AI

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Data Modelling Consultant to support the integration of data from newly acquired companies into our standardised reporting and KPI framework.

This is a technical role that sits at the intersection of business analysis and BI development. The successful consultant will work closely with stakeholders to understand source systems and business metrics before designing robust dimensional data models and complex Power BI reporting solutions.

While report visualisation is part of the deliverable, the primary focus of this role is backend Power BI development, including data modelling, DAX calculations, and SQL-based data analysis.

The role will initially involve several weeks of data discovery and analysis, working with subject matter experts to understand source data structures before progressing into data modelling and report development.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with subject matter experts from newly acquired businesses to understand source systems and data structures (primarily SQL Server).

Conduct data discovery and analysis to understand how source data maps to existing KPI frameworks and reporting standards.

Design and implement dimensional data models using fact and dimension structures to support scalable reporting.

Develop complex Power BI datasets and reports, including advanced DAX measures and calculated tables.

Collaborate with data engineers to support data ingestion and transformation pipelines.

Translate business reporting requirements into robust, maintainable Power BI models.

Build standardised reporting outputs for each acquired company (typically ~4 reports per integration).

Work closely with stakeholders to test, validate, and refine reports to ensure they meet business needs.

Support multiple integration workstreams as the acquisition programme progresses.

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong experience developing complex Power BI solutions.

Advanced DAX proficiency for building measures, calculated tables, and performance-optimised models.

Strong SQL skills, including complex querying beyond basic joins.

Proven experience designing dimensional data models (facts, dimensions, star schemas).

Ability to analyse unfamiliar datasets and map them to structured KPI frameworks.

Comfortable working across both technical and business domains.

Strong stakeholder engagement skills for data discovery and requirements clarification..

Desirable Experience

Experience working on data integration or post-acquisition reporting projects.

Exposure to SQL Server environments and enterprise data warehouses.

Experience collaborating with data engineering teams on ingestion and transformation pipelines.

This role will involve integrating multiple newly acquired companies into a standard reporting model. Each integration typically results in the delivery of a small set of standardised Power BI reports built on robust dimensional models.
