The successful candidate will take on a range of responsibilities, including:
• Preparing worksites for concrete pours, ensuring that they are safe and ready for concreting to take place.
• Mixing and pouring concrete, following codes and safety standards.
• Laying concrete mixes according to specification.
• Finishing and smoothing concrete surfaces.
• Using various tools to shape or dress the surface of concrete, including pliable templates, screeds and floats.
• Monitoring and checking the condition of forms, reinforcing materials, and subgrade, as well as the temperature, humidity and other conditions specified by the contract, to ensure the quality of the finished product.
• Assessing and re-working concrete surfaces as required.
• Working closely with other members of the team, as well as with customers and clients, to ensure a cooperative and productive working environment.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• At least two years of experience in the industry
• Ability to read and understand drawings, plans and technical instructions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with other concreters
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
• Own tools and transport.
