    • Work with a variety of metals, including aluminium, titanium, steel, and other aerospace-grade materials.
    • Follow engineering drawings and specifications to ensure all components meet required tolerances and finish quality.

  • Quality Control:
    • Inspect parts for defects, such as cracks, pits, or surface inconsistencies, and ensure they meet the required standards before further processing.
    • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and quality.
    • Ensure that all components comply with the latest industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, EN9100).

  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and regulations within the aerospace manufacturing environment.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) where required and maintain a safe and tidy working area.
    • Report any hazards or unsafe practices to the Health and Safety Officer promptly.

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with engineers, quality control teams, and other manufacturing staff to ensure that products are completed to the highest standards.
    • Communicate effectively regarding any issues that may arise during the deburring or polishing process

  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Contribute to ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
    • Participate in training and development activities to stay current with industry best practices and advancements in deburring/polishing technologies.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Previous experience as a Metal Finishing Technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or precision engineering.
    • Strong knowledge of deburring and polishing techniques, including hand tools and mechanical polishing equipment.
    • Familiarity with aerospace materials and an understanding of their specific requirements.
    • Good understanding of tolerances, technical drawings, and measurement techniques.
    • Ability to work to tight tolerances and maintain high-quality standards.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.

  • A recognised qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field would be advantageous (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Engineering or similar).
  • Alternatively, relevant work experience with metal finishing will be considered.
