We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Broker to join our team. As a Customs Broker, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and timely import and export of goods. You will work closely with clients, government agencies, and international suppliers to navigate complex customs regulations and paperwork, ensuring compliance and minimizing delays. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the import and export process by preparing and submitting customs documentation, ensuring compliance with local customs laws and regulations.
- Calculate and verify duties and taxes, ensuring accurate financial assessment for each transaction.
- Coordinate with government agencies and third-party service providers to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and certifications.
- Advise clients on the most efficient shipping methods, considering cost, time, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct audits of import and export records to identify discrepancies or potential compliance issues.
- Manage the release of goods from customs custody and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in international trade, customs, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Customs Broker, with a strong understanding of customs regulations and procedures.
- Excellent knowledge of tariff schedules, preferential trade agreements, and customs valuation methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with exceptional organizational skills.
- Proficient in using customs software and electronic systems, such as ACE, AES, or AMS.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and government agencies.
