The Role
Reports to: Senior Platform Architect - Identity
Location: Stockholm, SWE - (Remote)
Comp: Negotiable (Base) + Company Performance Bonus (10%) + Equity + Wider iProov Benefits
This role exists to support iProov’s continued growth by addressing several key needs within the Identity team.
As a senior engineer transitions into a new role, there’s a critical opportunity to share and preserve their knowledge, while also redistributing code ownership to mitigate single points of failure. At the same time, we’re focused on improving the operational efficiency of our identity backend systems and laying the groundwork for future team expansion, through better documentation, scalable architecture, and smoother onboarding.
In this role, you’ll take a hands-on approach to backend development, system maintenance, feature development and reducing technical debt, while working towards long-term ownership of core platform components.
How you can make an impact
- Take ownership of key parts of the Identity Platform codebase.
- Contribute to backend development, improve system maintainability, and drive down tech debt.
- Collaborate on operations to support and eventually lead day-to-day platform maintenance tasks.
- Learn from and transition knowledge from senior engineers to ensure continuity and scale.
- Improve engineering hygiene: refine documentation, increase code readability, and implement practices for long-term maintainability.
- Mentor and support future hires as the team grows.

- Strong computer literacy and architectural thinking.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud computing
- Effective communicator, comfortable translating technical decisions into real-world impact.
- Rapid learner who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys solving unfamiliar problems.
- Security and privacy-first mindset, with a deep appreciation for building robust, resilient systems.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience owning and maintaining a production codebase.
- Familiarity with OpenID Connect or other authentication/authorisation protocols.
- Exposure to blockchain, zero-knowledge proofs, or NFTs (as a signal of deeper cryptographic understanding).
- Understanding of and/or experience with verifiable credentials, such as W3C or mdoc
- Experience coaching or mentoring junior engineers.
- Background in AI/data science concepts (our platform integrates AI-driven components).
- Knowledge of DevOps, especially Kubernetes.

- You balance autonomy with collaboration, knowing when to take the lead and when to ask for help.
- You’re intellectually honest, highly curious, and resilient (especially when things go wrong).
