Reporting to the Head of Platform you will be based out of our UK location and work across a range of functions from ongoing support of established practices, to developing new solutions aligned to internal development requirements, as well as upscaling and remodeling current systems.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Build and maintain robust systems and services that power the company's platform, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and efficient resource utilization.
- Work cross functionally with software engineers, DevOps engineers and product managers to understand requirements, provide technical guidance and implement solutions that align with business goals and technology standards.
- Streamline deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes through automation tools and techniques, enabling rapid and consistent delivery of platform services while minimizing human error.
- Ensure platform stability and performance by monitoring system health, identifying bottlenecks, and maintaining optimal performance levels. Proactively address issues related to scalability, latency, and overall system reliability.
- Continuously evaluate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance the platform's capabilities and efficiency. Share knowledge and insights with the team, fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
We look for people with:
- Demonstrable industry experience with backend systems.
- We use python but the right candidate without a python background may be considered if willing to learn
- Familiarity with API best practices, bonus if you have experience with Flask and FastAPI
- An understanding of distributed systems (RabbitMQ, Celery, Redis, Memcached)
- Experience using Docker
- An understanding of NoSQL databases - We utilise MongoDB but this can be taught
- Appreciation of Test Driven Development, SOLID principles and optimisation techniques
- Familiarity with kubernetes, GCP and other devops technologies would be beneficial
