The Head Sommelier will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the wine program at the establishment, including:
- Assisting guests with wine recommendations and pairings during dinner service, ensuring that guests have a positive dining experience.
- Maintaining and updating the wine list, including researching and sourcing new and exciting wines to add to the list.
- Decanting and serving wine, ensuring that wine is served at the correct temperature and in appropriate glassware.
- Managing and training the sommelier team, including conducting regular tastings and training sessions to ensure that team members have a deep understanding of the wine list and can provide expert recommendations to guests.
- Managing wine inventory and ordering, including tracking stock levels, placing orders with suppliers, and managing budget for wine purchases.
- Attending wine-related events and tastings to stay current on industry trends and new wines.
- A WSET certificate is a must, and the successful applicant should preferably from the UK, however a 3 year skilled worker Visa for a suitable candidate could be arranged.
- Single occupancy for 1 month on a temporary basis, after that the candidate will have to look for own accommodation
The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine and a deep understanding of different wine regions, varietals, and styles. Superior people skills and the ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members is a must. Experience in a similar role is also required.
