Long - Term teachers have a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist school based just outside of Taunton, who are part of a trust that provides therapeutic care and education for children and young people. In 2019, the school won the Positive Behaviour Support Award at the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards.



 

About the school:

 

This fantastic school supports students aged 4 -16, all of which have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and SEMH. They have a wealth of experience and expertise in cognition and learning and social, emotional and mental health. 

 

They provide a safe and supportive environment where learning becomes an enjoyable experience, embodying the trusting values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Caring. The school has a welcoming, relaxed feel but maintains high professional standards.


 

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher 
  • Offer general classroom support to students, as well at 1:1 support 
  • Manage behaviour 
  • Monitor on break time and meal times
  • Maintaining a tidy classroom
  • Activity preparation (printing, photocopying)
  • Offering emotional support to SEN students 
     

 

About you:

  • Have at least 1 years TA experience in UK school
  • Knowledge of SEND, including learning and behavioural needs 
  • Ability to handle challenging situations calmly
  • Good initiative 
  • Caring, patient and dedicated 
  • Good team player
  • Great sense of humour
