Location: Somerset (near Wedmore)
Contract: Permanent, full time (term-time only, Mon - Fri, 08:45 - 16:15)
Salary: £28,000 per annum (actual)
Start: September 2025
Are you a hands-on, creative practitioner with a passion for inspiring young people? We’re recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent provision in Somerset that is seeking a dynamic Design & Technology Workshop Tutor to join their small, values-led team.
This is a unique opportunity to support young people aged 8 - 18 who require an alternative approach to education. Working 1:1 and in small groups, you will deliver practical, workshop-based learning experiences in a purpose-built D&T space. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a tangible difference in the lives of students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, hands-on D&T projects using wood, metal and mixed materials
- Adapt your teaching to meet individual learning needs and EHCP targets
- Foster trust and motivation through positive relationships and mentoring
- Maintain a safe, structured and inspiring workshop environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching, therapeutic and support teams
- Celebrate creativity, progress and personal achievement every step of the way
We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency with workshop tools, materials and health & safety protocols
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH or additional needs
- A calm, consistent and relational approach to behaviour and engagement
- Creativity, resilience and a belief in the transformative power of vocational learning
