The Role - What You’ll Be Doing:

As an HLTA, you’ll be a vital part of a nurturing and therapeutic school community. You will:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Support lesson planning and delivery across the curriculum
  • Foster student progress in both academic and social development
  • Help students build emotional resilience and confidence
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external agencies
  • Promote a safe, structured and emotionally supportive environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver support for students with SEMH, ASD and complex needs
  • Assist in the creation of differentiated, inclusive lesson content
  • Track and monitor progress, feeding back to staff and families
  • Apply therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour and wellbeing
  • Supervise during break/lunchtime to encourage positive social interaction
  • Support personal development, independence and self-esteem

What We’re Looking For:

  • HLTA qualification or significant equivalent experience
  • Proven success supporting pupils with autism, SEMH or additional needs
  • Strong grasp of inclusive education, differentiation and pastoral care
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confident leading learning activities and interventions
  • Calm, flexible and nurturing mindset
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

Why Apply?

  • Join a passionate and highly skilled SEN team
  • Work in a beautiful, purpose-designed school environment
  • Play a key role in a school focused on therapeutic, relational practice
  • Develop professionally in a supportive, collaborative culture
  • Experience the stunning countryside of Tavistock - a great place to work and live
