Role: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Exeter

Contract: Full time, permanent

Salary: £110 - £120 per day

Are you passionate about making a genuine impact in young people’s lives? Do you have the resilience and empathy needed to support students with complex emotional and behavioural needs?

We’re proud to be partnering with a remarkable specialist school in Exeter that supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This close-knit, nurturing school is seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team.

About The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with students across Key Stages 2 to 4, providing both academic support and emotional guidance. Many pupils have experienced trauma and may be diagnosed with ADHD, autism or other neurodiverse conditions. Your role is crucial in helping create a stable, supportive atmosphere where students can grow in confidence and ability.

You’ll work alongside teachers, manage challenging behaviours and play a central role in helping students develop social skills and emotional regulation. This is much more than a classroom support role - you’ll become a trusted, consistent presence in these young people’s lives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong resilience and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • A caring, relational approach to working with children
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and setting healthy boundaries
  • Flexibility and willingness to support throughout the school day, including during breaks and transitions
  • Patience, humour and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed

To be considered, you must have experience working with children in any capacity. While prior experience in a school or care environment is an advantage, what matters most is your attitude and dedication.

Working with Long-term Teachers:

We are an independent agency working with Nurseries, Primary, Secondary and Special Schools.

LTT was founded with the aim of creating a genuine, transparent and straightforward service to help candidates secure their next role. We place a huge emphasis on delivering an exceptional service where you will be supported, listened to and valued throughout.

Your dedicated consultant will invest time to understand your experience, skill-set and what your ideal role looks like. You will have frequent updates with your progress through compliance, applications for specific roles as well as receiving additional information on roles which we feel may be of interest to you.

We are proud members of the REC and we have the highest standard of compliance. Working with us means you will get the very best support and guidance through the clearance process from your own specific point of contact from our in-house compliance team.

  • Working to Agency Workers Regulations
  • Interview preparation, advice and support
  • Statutory employment rights, such as; sick pay, holiday pay, maternity and paternity pay
