I am working with a successful and hardworking academy located in Swindon. Motivated in providing students with world class teaching and a supportive environment. They are looking for an enthusiastic Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Learning Support Assistant to join the academy. This school has a nurturing environment for both teachers and students with a real strive for excellence.


 

The role is full time and permanent with a start date commencing in September 2025. As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant you will be assisting with the planned learning and activities provided by the teacher, by supporting those with SEMH needs through a supporting and encouraging environment.


 

Responsibilities

  • Providing assistance in the Learning Support of SEMH students
  • Capability to provide support to children with a variety of special needs.
  • Providing one - on - one support and guidance inside and outside the classroom.
  • Supporting students in the management of behaviour, emotional regulation to build positive relationships.
  • A reliable character for students to use for their development and emotional challenges.
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to provide a collaborative environment.
  • Help in the preparation of learning materials

 

Requirements

  • Relevant SEMH Qualifications are beneficial as well as experience working with SEN children.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting those with education needs and emotional development.
  • Effective interpersonal and observation skills for good communication between students, teachers and parents.
  • Patience, resilience and adaptability to provide the right support for individual needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • SEND teaching qualification
