The Role:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll work 1:1 and in small groups with students across Key Stages 2 to 4, many of whom have diagnoses such as ADHD, autism or have experienced early trauma. Your presence will help create a stable, nurturing environment where students feel safe, respected and empowered to learn.

You’ll be a vital part of the support team, working alongside teachers, managing behaviour positively and helping students build the emotional regulation and social skills they need for life.

  • Emotionally resilient and calm under pressure
  • Compassionate and committed to trauma-informed support
  • Confident in de-escalating challenging behaviours
  • Relational in their approach, able to build trust with young people
  • Adaptable and hands-on throughout the school day

Experience & Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (in education, care, youth work or similar)
  • A background in SEMH or SEND is beneficial, but not essential
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to learn about what matters most
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Why This Role?

  • Flexible, rewarding work with the chance to go permanent
  • Daily variety and meaningful challenges
  • A highly supportive school community and strong staff culture
  • Professional development opportunities and on-the-job training
  • The chance to be a life-changing presence in a young person’s journey
