I am working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school located in Swindon. The school is highly skilled in providing SEN education through a strong team of teachers and methods to support children with a wide range of academic, physical and social needs. A child-centered approach  provides children with the ability to develop skills needed both in school and further on after education. The school is seeking a dedicated and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant  to provide support for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their educational goals.


 

The opportunity is a permanent position starting in September. You will play a crucial role as a SEND Teaching Assistant based in the specialised centre within the school. Assisting with the education plans of small group, one-to-one and classroom based environments will help to develop skills and support children with a range of individual needs.


 

Responsibilities :

  • Providing support in the resource base of the school, supporting children with additional needs.
  • Collaborating with the SEN team in order to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Assist with the implementation of behaviour management strategies
  • Adapt teaching in order to cater to children's individual needs.
  • Provide one-to-one support both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in the classroom

 

Requirements :

  • Experience working with SEN children is desirable 
  • Passion for working with children with additional needs ; enthusiasm to create a positive relationship and environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with other SEN teachers and outside agencies such as Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Understanding of child safeguarding procedures
