I am working with a vibrant Primary school located in Wiltshire that is more than just a place where children learn to read and write. It is a place where they are nurtured, where their faith is strengthened, and where they are prepared to be thoughtful, compassionate members of society. They also offer a multitude of ways to get involved with local and school based charitable work.
This school has an exciting opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to specialise in small group intervention starting as soon as possible and staying on a permanent basis. You will play a vital role in pupils' educational, emotional and social development. You must be able to provide a calm, consistent and reassuring presence, adapting classroom materials to encourage engagement and proactive learning, helping them transition easily between SEND groups and mainstream schooling.
Responsibilities:
Adapting lesson materials, making them accessible to the pupil.
Confidence running group work and behaviour management.
Reinforcing learning objectives set by the teacher.
Assisting with literacy and numerical tasks breaking them down into more manageable steps.
Understanding the individual needs of the pupil to best support them in class.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with SEND children.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the pupil, parents and colleagues effectively.
Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.
Relevant qualifications and training in supporting children with SEND.
An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
