Long-Term Teachers is delighted to be supporting a well-established specialist school in beautiful South Devon as it seeks to appoint a dedicated and flexible Secondary Teacher from September 2025. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for an adaptable educator confident in teaching English, Maths and Science to students of secondary age who are working at a primary academic level.


 

Set in a peaceful woodland setting and with an outstanding residential provision, this school supports young people aged 4 - 19 with a range of learning needs, including autism, communication and interaction challenges and cognitive learning difficulties. The school places a strong focus on personalised education, pastoral care and preparation for adulthood.


 

About The Role:


 

  • Deliver engaging lessons across English, Maths and Science, as well as other core subjects across the national curriculum
  • Teach students aged 11 - 16, most of whom are working below age-related expectations
  • Use creative, adapted approaches to meet individual learning profiles
  • Work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team focused on holistic development 
  • Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive environment that fosters life skills and independence


 

Ideal Candidate:


 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Confident teaching multiple core subjects at a flexible academic level
  • Experience in special education or alternative provisions is highly desirable
  • Compassionate, calm and committed to inclusive, pupil-centred teaching 
  • Skilled at managing behaviour and building trust with neurodiverse learners
