Business Development Manager | Ireland | Up to €55,000 + Bonus + Car + Package
Most salespeople plateau. Are you one of them?
Here’s an interesting question: how long have you been ‘nearly ready’ to make the move from internal sales or applications engineering into a real external role? A year? Two? Still waiting for the perfect moment?
This is that moment. And it won’t hang around.
A 140-year-old engineering business with a global multi-million-pound turnover is adding one person to its Irish sales team. One. They’re not casting a wide net, they’re looking for someone specific: technically sharp, commercially hungry, and ready to step up. If that’s you, read on. If you’re not sure, this probably isn’t for you.
What You Actually Get
Forget the vague promises most job ads make. Here’s what this role actually delivers:
- A clear, structured career path inside a global business that genuinely invests in its people - not just a line in the job description, but a comprehensive development programme with real mentoring and training.
- The autonomy to own your territory across Ireland, build your own book of business, and be rewarded for it. Up to €55,000 basic, plus a bonus structure, company car, and full package.
- Work that actually sticks. 96% of people placed into this business are still there 12 months later. 94% after two years. In a world of revolving-door sales jobs, that number is remarkable - and it says everything about how this company treats its people.
- Bespoke engineering solutions that give you something genuinely worth selling. Not commodity products in a race to the bottom on price.
What You’ll Be Doing
This isn’t account management. You’ll be hunting. Identifying new opportunities, building relationships with corporate decision-makers, and closing deals that matter. Specifically:
- Strategically developing and tactically executing new business campaigns across Ireland.
- Driving aggressive revenue growth. Not ticking along but pushing hard.
- Producing compelling business proposals, managing customer forecasts, and negotiating at stakeholder level.
- Sourcing, qualifying, and converting new business opportunities and revenue streams.
What You Need to Bring
They’re not asking for a finished article. But they are asking for someone with the raw material:
- A technical mindset. Engineering knowledge from education or hands-on experience. You need to understand what you’re selling.
- Strong communication and strategic thinking. You can read a room, adapt your approach, and build credibility fast.
- The confidence to get in front of corporate customers and the resilience to keep going when it’s tough.
- Genuine ambition. You’re not looking for a lateral move. You want progression, and you’re prepared to earn it.
The question isn’t whether this is a good opportunity. It clearly is. The question is whether you’re the person who’ll actually do something about it or be the one who’ll read this, nod along, and scroll on.
Deadlines are real. Spots are limited to one. If you have the entrepreneurial spirit and technical edge this role demands, contact Richard York or call Mercury Hampton directly on 0044 1925 937 311.
