We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Continuous Improvement Manager to join our team in North Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across our multisite manufacturing operations, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, productivity, and quality. You will leverage your Six Sigma expertise and extensive manufacturing experience to identify opportunities for process optimisation and implement data-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Implementation: Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies across our manufacturing facilities. Identify and execute process improvement projects, utilising tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
- Process Optimisation: Analyse current manufacturing processes, identify bottlenecks, and develop strategies to optimise workflows, reduce cycle times, and improve overall efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and ensure sustainable results.
- Quality Management: Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure adherence to industry standards and customer requirements. Analyse quality data, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance product quality and reduce defect rates.
- Cost Reduction Initiatives: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through process improvements, waste reduction, and operational excellence initiatives. Quantify and track cost savings achieved through continuous improvement projects.
- Training and Coaching: Provide training and coaching to manufacturing teams on Lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement tools and techniques. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage employee engagement in problem-solving and process optimisation.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives. Analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to drive ongoing improvements.
- Project Management: Effectively manage continuous improvement projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality, and supply chain, to align continuous improvement efforts with organisational goals and ensure seamless implementation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a continuous improvement or operational excellence role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives, resulting in measurable improvements in efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify root causes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex information to various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and continuous improvement software (e.g., Minitab, JMP, or similar).
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
